Pallabi child murder case has shocked the nation as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the family of the eight-year-old victim at their residence in Dhaka’s Pallabi area on Thursday night.
According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, the premier met with the grieving family after a cabinet meeting and expressed deep condolences over the tragic incident. He also assured the family that authorities would ensure a proper and swift investigation into the case.
Several senior officials accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit, including Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque, Defense Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) AKM Shamsul Islam, DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan, Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M. Saleh, and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.
Police Arrest Couple Over Brutal Killing
The victim, a second-grade student at a local school, was allegedly murdered by a tenant living in a neighboring apartment on Tuesday.
Police said the child left home in the morning and was later lured into the nearby flat, where she was allegedly killed. Officers later recovered the child’s dismembered body from the apartment.
Following the incident, police arrested Sohail Rana and his wife Swapna Akter, residents of the flat where the body was found. The victim’s father filed a case accusing them, along with another unidentified person, of rape and murder.
Investigators confirmed that Sohail Rana gave a confessional statement before a Dhaka court on Wednesday regarding the incident.
The brutal killing has sparked widespread outrage across the country, with many demanding the highest punishment for those responsible.
